[About the photographer]

Leo Chan, a native from Hong Kong, earned his Ph.D. in Mass Communication and Media Arts. His experiences and background in mass communication and media arts have stimulated his interests in both research and creative work. He is currently an Assistant Professor in the Communication Program and Digital Media Studies at University of Houston-Clear Lake.

In addition to his full time teaching and research activity, he is passionate about photography and art. Some of his inspirations come from everyone and everything around him. His work has been shown at different exhibitions and can be found in various literary publications.
He is also very passionate about traveling, learning about and embracing different cultures, and meeting interesting people.

Aside from his full time job, photography, and traveling, Leo is involved with non-profit organizations, such as Big Brothers Big Sisters and GLSEN Houston. He believes that we could never have enough kindness, compassion, understanding, and tolerance.
